Mr. Brehl, with this interview we want and will mainly look to the future. But we also need to talk about September 13, 2022. Would you describe what you think happened that day?
I was in the block of Eintracht fans at the Olympique Marseille stadium, I looked down and suddenly I saw this rocket flying towards me. Instinctively I raised my right arm and made a small twisting movement. And then there was the impact. Like a punch in the chest. I crashed left in slow motion and quickly realized I was paralyzed on one side on my left side. But I didn’t fall down a flight of stairs, as has been repeatedly written in other places, but I simply fell down the two or three steps that were next to me, with my neck open after my fall, because I couldn’t catch myself same more through paralysis. I’m pretty sure I broke my cervical vertebrae and ribs. This rocket, or rather this incandescent mass, then landed in front of my face and I think I tried to put my hand in front of my face, my right hand, on which I also suffered burns to protect my face, with it do not burn your eyes or nose or facial skin. My partner, who was standing next to me, immediately jumped to my aid and removed this luminous mass. And at that moment, the people who had been watching this rushed towards me. Then they pressed scarves, T-shirts and whatever they had on the neck wound and tried to stabilize me.
