Eintracht Braunschweig finds defensive ace! Bundesliga professional arrives

Eintracht Braunschweig has had a disastrous start to the new season. Daniel Scherning’s team has suffered one defeat after another and is already in last place with a big handicap. The defense was particularly lacking.

Something still needs to happen in central defense – that was clear to everyone at Eintracht Braunschweig. Shortly before deadline day, the Lions have now announced that the move has been made. A new defensive ace is coming from the Bundesliga.

Eintracht Braunschweig helps itself in Berlin

Paul Jaeckel is the man on whom BTSV’s defensive hopes now rest. The 26-year-old has been under contract with Union Berlin for three years, but is no longer used as more than a substitute. A situation that Eintracht is now taking advantage of.

As BTSV announced on Thursday (29 August), the Lions are loaning the central defender until the end of the current season. At Eintracht Braunschweig, Jaeckel will wear the number 3 shirt, and the Lions say they do not have an option to buy.

“The absolutely right building block”

“We have always stressed in recent weeks that we need and will bring in another central defender,” said managing director Benjamin Kessel, commenting on the situation. “Paul is the perfect building block that will significantly strengthen our team and also brings leadership qualities.”

In addition to his Bundesliga appearances for Union, Jaeckel can also look back on numerous second division games with Greuther Fürth. He was trained in the youth team of VfL Wolfsburg. And: “He is in top shape and ready to play for us straight away,” says Kessel.

Eintracht Braunschweig hopes for improvement

Jaeckel is of course aware of the expectations that come with his appointment. “I am happy to be here and I am aware of the task that lies ahead of us,” said the newcomer.
