The Investigative Police arrested the eighth suspect of being part of the gang that perpetrated the new “Heist of the century”, also happened this year at the Santiago Airport, such as the first case named in the same way in 2014.
The theft, which occurred last March in the warehouses of the international cargo terminal, was perpetrated by a group of individuals who entered a vehicle belonging to a mail company, stealing more than 13 billion pesos between different currencies (14 million dollars and 1.1 million euros).

This new arrest, of a 36-year-old man, was carried out in a series of proceedings that involved raids in homes in various communes of the Metropolitan Region.
“The prosecutor ordered new entrances and registration to seven houses in the communes of Vitacura, Lo Prado, Pudahuel and Santiago Centro; and the arrest of two people was achieved, one of them directly involved in the robbery of the century “, reported the Prefect Jorge Sánchez, national chief Against Robbery and Criminal Foci.
The detective stated that in the operation “evidence of criminal interest was found, part of the money stolen, firearms and clothing of the Chilean Police were seized “, in addition to GPS inhibitors.
In the raids the PDI found more than 90 million pesos which, preliminarily, correspond to part of what was docked to the securities truck in March.
The eighth arrest for this case was assessed by the undersecretary of the Interior, Juan Francisco Galli.
During the afternoon he was subjected to arrest control and formalization for the crimes of robbery with intimidation, reception and possession of a weapon. The First Guarantee Court of Santiago determined the preventive detention.
