Matěj Šín, an 18-year-old footballer from Ostrava, had to interrupt his sports career due to health reasons. According to the club’s website, doctors diagnosed him with cancer.
The young Czech national team member, who made his debut in the first league at the age of seventeen, has had surgery.
“Matěj will now start undergoing postoperative treatment, which does not allow him to undergo any increased physical activity,” said Baník’s sports director Alois Grussmann.
“Matěj’s health is now an absolute priority for the club and we are ready to provide him with the maximum possible cooperation and support in further treatment,” added the Ostrava official.
In the spring, Šín scored five league starts in his Ostrava jersey.
