Eighteen months in prison for the spouse who had hit his partner at the bedside of their daughter at the maternity hospital in Montluçon (Allier)

Prosecuted for hitting his partner on several occasions, especially when she was pregnant, Jordan Bonnard was sentenced yesterday to 24 months’ imprisonment, including six months with a two-year probationary period.

The correctional court accompanied the sentence with an obligation to work, an obligation of care, a ban on coming into contact with the victim and his continued detention.

Incarcerated since early November

This 24-year-old father, imprisoned since the beginning of November, was tried, this Tuesday, December 15, by videoconference, following a delayed appearance, pending a medical expertise of his victim.

Strongly alcoholic, he struck the latter on November 5, around 2:30 a.m., while she was sleeping in the maternity hospital in Montluçon, next to their daughter, born very premature a month earlier.

Insults and beatings for two years

The investigation conducted by the police determined that the young woman had been kicked and punched for two years. But also insulted, bitten and pulled by the hair. It took the episode of motherhood for her to dare to speak.

The defendant admitted part of the facts at the hearing. “A typical situation of domestic violence”, lamented the lawyer for the civil party who claimed only one euro in damages.

For her part, the deputy public prosecutor saw it as “a textbook case of domestic violence”, before issuing requisitions followed by the court.

The defense lawyer for his part asked for a maximum of nine months firm.
