Eighteen defeated Slezany in a prestigious competition! Sigma U18 – Baník U18 2:1

On Sunday, the Olomouc 18 players entered this year’s edition of the Moravian-Silesian Senior Youth League. Right at the start, their opponent was Baník from Ostrava, over whom they won 2:1.

Hanák had a good first half, during which they built up a two-goal lead. In the 24th minute, there was a jam in front of the Ostrava goal, the ball finally reached David Lorenc, who opened the score of the duel from the center.

Before the break, coach Petr Kobylík’s men increased their lead after a very nice action. After a long ball, Drábek, behind the Baník defender, crossed to the back post, where Andrýsek ran and shot past the goalkeeper. Hanáci led Ostrava 2:0 after the first half.

After the change of sides, Slezana reduced the deficit, Kulyk scored in the 58th minute. In the second half, Sigma’s juniors rather defended, while Baník tried to equalize. However, the defense of Olomouc did not capitulate for the second time and in the end, Sigma U18 won a spicy duel over Baník 2:1.

Evaluation of coach Petr Kobylík:

“We are generally satisfied with the match, as well as with the start of the season. We entered the match very well, the first twenty minutes were balanced, we were touching each other with Baník, it was a battle to win the center of the field. From the 20th minute we were clearly the better team, we outplayed Baník, we won the ball after pressing, we were better in combination. It’s just that we didn’t manage to get it into the wing spaces that much, which improved from around the 25th minute. We started to have an optical advantage, there were fewer chances. Even so, we scored two goals. We are satisfied with the first half.”

“I think we should have kicked a penalty at the end of the first half, I don’t know why the referee didn’t whistle it, but the player from Ostrava almost kicked our player’s head. For me, this was a clear penalty that, if we had converted, we could have decided the game.”

“We expected Baník to attack us after changing sides, which was confirmed. He started to be stronger on the ball, we were running out of strength a bit. Baník outplayed us, but we played more from a tighter block, the boys defended the game perfectly, except for one set piece, when the opponent scored a goal after a fantastic corner. In this situation, the players had nothing to blame, it was really well played. Before Baník’s goal, we had two 100% chances that we didn’t convert. It was played like this until the end. The opponent had some problems, but we defended it. I’m absolutely satisfied with the start of the season, the guys played it out as one team. I want to emphasize that they played as a team.”
