Authorities in the state of Florida, in the United States, issued an Amber Alert after the disappearance of an eight-month-old baby was recorded in the city of Davie, in Broward County.
According to an official statement from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the minor was named Amelia Martínez, and was last seen in the 4900 block on SW 148th Avenue in the aforementioned city.
Authorities say the baby is about 1 foot tall and weighs about 35 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
The statement notes that her father picked her up from a child care center called Little Hands On Learning Academy, located in Davie.
The police report also indicated that the baby’s mother, Arys Martínez, 34 years old, would also have been involved in this incident.
According to Florida police, the little girl’s parents face a suspension of parental rights, which they ignored when they went to pick her up at the child care center. The authorities maintain that there is a possibility that the baby’s mother is traveling with her aboard a white Toyota Camry vehicle with AZ89FY license plates.
The alert shared on February 21 warns that the couple could be taking the minor to the Orlando area, also in Florida.
Now, Davie City Police have asked for the help of the general public, hoping they can provide information that could lead them to the whereabouts of Amelia Martinez. In that sense, they asked anyone who knew anything about the case to immediately contact local authorities or call 911.
For now, Broward County police officers continue to coordinate efforts to find the pair and the missing minor.
UPDATE: The child and Martinez are driving in a white Toyota Camry, FL tag number AZ89FY. They may be traveling to the Orlando Florida area.
