On Tuesday, December 12, at 7 p.m. in the living room of “Pegaza pagalma” (Kuršu iela 20) there will be a meeting with the propagandist of a healthy lifestyle, finalist of beauty contests, organizers of the contests “Latvijas Talantīgo princesses festivals” and “Vecmāmiņa”, young author and writer Elita Drāki, who will share stories of feelings in her new book, the novel inspired by life stories “Eight Loves”. Its basis is the author’s life with both ups and downs, Irita Kalēja, member of the board of SIA “Liepaja Music”, informed the portal.
The book is very true in telling how a young girl grows into an elegant woman and a strong personality. However, this work is not an autobiography. The experience of the main character is used to illustrate how her beliefs and attitude towards life have been formed. The elite have adopted the 10th commandment of the samurai as their guiding principle, which states: “Whatever happens to you, you need”.
Elita’s spiritual quest takes her far into the world, and when she comes home, her personality is even stronger. The book says: “…I’ve always had a vision. It’s never been the result that’s important to me, it’s the direction. Because without direction, there is no development.”
Along with the author’s search for self-development, the book is also interesting with its reflection of its time and a certain part of society, virtues and customs, fashion and household descriptions. It covers a fairly wide period of time from the beginning of the eighties of the last century to the turn of the millennium. It is also interesting to follow how everything changes when the state system changes: what new priorities emerge in society, what people worry about and strive for.
The title of the book “Eight Loves” provokes to think that this will be one story full of love passions. But parallel to that, the novel is permeated with revelations about other kinds of very important loves. In Elit’s book, we invite: “Let’s not change others, let’s change ourselves. Only by accepting the trials that life imposes, it is possible to achieve harmony. The meaning of life is life itself, made of fulfilled moments… The truth of life is this: if there are many trials, there is always something , which gives joy. Everything depends on what we choose ourselves – to see the positive around us or to indulge in negativity and self-pity. If we live in harmony with ourselves, we wake up happy every morning, saying thank you.”
The evening of “Eight Loves” will be very special. Elita Drāke’s soulful life stories will merge with the songs sung by twin sisters Eva & Kaivas. Each story, each song will be a revelation of the artist’s soul, where you can feel a lot of love, warmth and a little sadness.
Epiphany will be a celebration for all of us. We will talk about what others are not talking about! Let it be!
