Eight firefighters injured, three critically, in four-alarm Long Island house fire

Firefighters have five levels of alarms to classify fires. These range from 1 to 5 according to your level of intensity. In this case, the one this afternoon in Staten Island, has been classified as four alarms, that is: it can be classified as a catastrophe and can concentrate up to 21 fire vehicles and 6 battalion chiefs.

FDNY says that the distress call regarding the fire at the house located at 88 Shotwell Avenue was received at 1:26 p.m., and that by 2:46 p.m. they had it under control.

Despite the speed to control the fire, eight firefighters were injured and FDNY reports that three of them received serious injuries.
