Eight arrests during eviction of squatted Watergraafsmeer shop premises

The shop on Hugo de Vrieslaan that was squatted this afternoon, was cleared by the police tonight. Eight arrests were made.

The group squatted the building in Watergraafsmeer, which, according to local residents, has been vacant since the beginning of 2019, around 4:25 pm this afternoon. The police arrived on the scene, but could not proceed with the eviction because the group of squatters had not been caught red-handed and because the owner had not yet reported it.

This was done around 8.10 pm tonight. Two of the eight arrests were made outside. Another six people were arrested in the building. All eight have been transferred to a detention center. A police spokesperson said that the property is back in the hands of the owner.
