Just under two weeks from the end of Ramadan, there is a lot of speculation in Morocco about the date of Eid ul-Fitr. According to astronomical calculations, Eid will be celebrated on Saturday, April 22, 2023.
The Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs will observe the crescent moon heralding the beginning of the month of Shawwal 1444 after the Al Maghrib prayer on Friday, April 21. Only then will the official date of Eid ul-Fitr be announced.

Although astronomical calculations can accurately predict the day of the new moon, Moroccan tradition requires that the moon must be visible to the naked eye. Only the Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs is allowed to announce the official date of Eid ul-Fitr in Morocco.
