Eid al-Adha No Holiday?

Jakarta

The government will hold a related meeting revised holiday holiday 2021 tomorrow. This follows after a spike in COVID-19 cases in several parts of Indonesia.

Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN-RB), Tjahjo Kumolo said the 2021 holiday leave meeting will be held on Friday (18/6) tomorrow. The meeting will be chaired by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy.

“(Tomorrow) the big day leave meeting has been revised again,” Tjahjo told detik.com, Thursday (17/6/2021).

Unfortunately, Tjahjo has not mentioned what holidays will be revised. In the near future, there will be an Eid al-Adha holiday which falls on July 20, 2021.

On a different occasion, the Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil did ask the central government to cancel the 2021 Eid al-Adha holiday. The reason is that the momentum is feared to cause a spike in COVID-19 cases.

“We recommend to the central government that the Eid al-Adha holiday be abolished so that the tested Micro PPKM can be used as a standard,” said Kang Emil in a webinar organized by BPK.

Kang Emil said that during the implementation of the Micro Community Activity Restriction (PPKM), it had a very effective effect in suppressing the growth rate of COVID-19.

“As long as the Micro PPKM itself is relatively good, it is disrupted by the long Eid al-Fitr holiday. This pattern was repeated yesterday, disrupted by the Christmas and New Year holidays,” he said.
