Ehrenkirchen, Wittnau and Merzhausen offer Corona rapid tests for all citizens on individual days, most of the communities in Hexental and on Batzenberg concentrate on school children.
Free rapid tests are already being offered to all citizens in several municipalities in the Freiburg area. The Breisgau editorial team asked how things are in the Hexental / Batzenberg district. She received these answers:
Merzhausen
In Merzhausen, a test center has been set up in the forum for some time under the leadership of Sybille Koch-Göpfrich from the Hexental pharmacy. Initially, mainly teachers and educators were tested, according to Mayor Christian Ante, the free test option has now been extended to all citizens. You can register at coronagetestet.de.
The capacities in the forum will be further expanded, and there are now special time slots for schoolchildren – this week on Wednesday, from next week on Mondays and Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. “These time slots are reserved exclusively for the pupils of the elementary school, so that the subject of rapid tests can be introduced here in peace, also with the parents. We were also able to hire two pediatric nurses for this,” says Sybille Koch-Göpfrich. According to Christian Ante, there has been no demand from daycare centers so far, but the community would support tests, provided that the personnel capacities are available.
Wittnau
In addition to the offer in the test center in Merzhausen, the municipality of Wittnau is planning to offer free tests for the Wittnauer from next week on Thursdays at the same time as the afternoon market in the Gallushaus under the leadership of the councilor and doctor Silke Law. Schoolchildren can already be tested in school this Thursday morning, again under the direction of Silke Law. This offer is initially valid until the Easter holidays. According to Mayor Jörg Kindel, Silke Law will take on the task on a voluntary basis and would like to provide her allowance for the renovation of the playgrounds in Wittnau.
Ehrenkirchen
Testing will also start in Ehrenkirchen this week. It starts with the students in grades 1 to 6. The goal is a test on Thursday or Friday of this week and then every week until the beginning of the Easter holidays. The parents are informed about the plans of the community through the school, said Mayor Thomas Breig. The offer does not initially apply to schoolchildren in higher grades, as they will not have face-to-face tuition in the school until the Easter holidays, according to Breig. With the support of the local pharmacist, there should be a throat test, but no spit test for elementary school students, as has already been offered elsewhere. Starting next Saturday, there will also be a free trial offer in the community for all citizens. It starts with the municipal test center on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Kirchberghalle. Registration is not necessary, says Thomas Breig, anyone who needs it receives a test certificate on site. Volunteers and administrative staff are deployed in the test center. The extent to which this offer is expanded also depends on how much it is used.
On Tuesday of the coming week there will also be a free test option for citizens from 12 noon to 2 p.m. in the Kirchberghalle by the local pharmacy. Registration is required for this, either by telephone at Tel. 07633 / 804-0 or by email at [email protected].
Pfaffenweiler
The municipality of Pfaffenweiler currently does not offer rapid tests for the entire population. “The framework conditions for this federal test strategy are not yet clear,” says Mayor Dieter Hahn. However, all school and kindergarten children and their parents received a test offer via the school apps. Testing is to be carried out in cooperation with pharmacist Ursula Sütterle and volunteers in the Batzenberghalle. Dieter Hahn sees this test campaign as an “organizational prototype” for test offers to the whole population.
Schallstadt
Free quick tests for all citizens are currently not planned in Schallstadt, says Mayor Sebastian Kiss, the 2192 tests that were assigned to the community by the state were not enough. The municipality has therefore decided to test the students and teachers in addition to the town hall employees. Since the country does not support the purchase of spit tests, daycare children are not tested, says Kiss, and the available throat and nose tests are used for school children. The parents’ declarations of consent are currently being obtained, said Kiss, and the tests should begin next week: on Wednesdays and Thursdays, it is the turn of the community officials, and on Wednesdays it is also the schools. Tests are carried out in large quantities in the hall next to the Alemannenschule and in Schallstadt in the Glock hall. The community is supported by employees from the local medical practices. With his colleagues in Pfaffenweiler and Ehaben, Kiss wants to advise whether and how one can proceed together in the administrative community. There should be a conversation on Thursday.
