Ehpad, purchasing power, health … Retirees want to be heard in Toulon

The delegates of nine trade union organizations (Union organizations CGT, FO, CFTC, CFE CGC, FSU, Solidaires, RFP, LSE, Ensemble et solidaires, Ed.), representing retirees, met this Monday at the Labor Exchange.

They wanted to question the president of the Departmental Council on the control of the operation and management of the Ehpads of the department. Then question the candidates for the legislative elections on purchasing power, health, public services and analyze how they listen to them.

Open letter

Recalling the institutional mistreatment of our elders, revealed by journalist Victor Castanet (The Gravediggers) and confirmed by reports from finance and social affairs inspectors, activists question the means implemented by the Department to protect residents of accommodation structures and ensure the use of public money.

They specify that they have received no response to their requests on these subjects (letters dated April 27, 2020 and December 21, 2021) and again challenge the President of the Departmental Council.

They would like to have information on the functioning of the Listening and Vigilance unit and on its referral.

They are also calling for a substantial increase in support staff to achieve one support person per resident (0.6 currently) and are demanding a large public service to support the loss of autonomy, managed by health insurance.

Questionnaire

The trade unionists will send a questionnaire to the candidates for the legislative elections (except, they specified, to the extreme right). It covers several themes:

– purchasing power with indexation of pensions on the evolution of the average salary and measures to catch up with the purchasing power lost since 2014.

health with the improvement of the health system, the assumption of responsibility for the loss of autonomy by health insurance, the hiring of qualified personnel and the opening of beds.

public services with local restoration meeting the needs of citizens.

listening because 17.8 million retirees and elderly people have no fully competent contact person. Creation of a dedicated ministry?

The answers obtained, or absence, will be communicated to the voters.
