EHC without a duo, but with a crowd of fans to Krefeld
Second division ice hockey club EHC Freiburg can count on a lot of support this Friday at the Krefeld Pinguinen (7.30 p.m., live on the Internet on SpradeTV). “We have a bunch of fans with us,” says EHC trainer Robert Hoffmann, because the fans have booked a special train. There should be around 500 people from Freiburg. Meanwhile, striker Shawn O’Donnell and defender Calvin Pokorny have returned to ice training, but at least in Krefeld the ailing duo will not play (Hoffmann: “We don’t want to take any risks”). With US new signing Kenneth Hausinger, “you notice the changeover to the larger ice surface. He still has to get in properly,” the coach sums up the striker’s debut weekend, which led to the wins against Kassel (3: 1) and Regensburg (4: 3 after extra time ) contributed a goal, but still acted inconspicuously. After the duel at fourth-placed Krefeld, the eighth-placed EHC will play against the Bayreuth Tigers on Sunday (6:30 p.m., Echte Helden Arena). “They have been preparing for the playdowns for weeks and have recently gained self-confidence,” are Hoffmann’s words of warning before the tail light.
