EHC should clean better in front of own house
The ice hockey professionals of the EHC Freiburg took over a work assignment from last year. The 1:5 at the end of the year with the Kassel Huskies showed “that we have to work better at home”, says coach Robert Hoffmann about the defensive behavior in front of his own goal. The second division team should implement the lesson this Tuesday against the Krefeld Penguine (19:30, Real Heroes Arena). For Hoffmann, the relegated DEL side have “undoubtedly individual class”, despite their sixth place in the table “they are still the favorites for me together with Kassel”. He has to do without a trio (Kaisler, Sonnenburg, Trinkberger) and Slovakian Martin Rway, who has reportedly left EHC. Slovak first division club HK Spisska Nova Ves announced the signing of the striker on Monday evening. “Martin has asked for his contract to be terminated,” explains sporting director Peter Salmik. Further squad changes are not excluded, “something could still happen”, said Salmik. So the EHC does not actively force a start. On the access side, the focus is on a successor to Rway with directorial qualities.
