EHC Freiburg defeated Dresdner Eislöwen 5: 4 at home

Dresden dominates the special teams

Both teams started straight away with their sights open, which Dresden’s Jordan Knacksted acknowledged after a little more than ten minutes with the goal in the first power play. But the wolves reacted immediately: Just a few seconds after the restart, Jake Ustdorf converted the ricochet from Niko Linsenmaier (12th).

Guest coach Rico Rossi gave his top storm row a lot of ice age, but this time the Wolves scored the opening goal when Patrick Kurz simply hit it (25th). The game rocked back and forth, both teams pushed the pace, but let the defensive slip again and again. Another power player, this time scored by Nick Huard, equalized the Eislöwen (34th).

What about the wolves? Immediately after conceding the goal, they were allowed to run in the majority themselves – and promptly caught a Dresden counterattack, who turned the game outnumbered (Huard / 35th). But the Breisgauer struck back, albeit favored by the referee, who blocked a Dresden break on the gang. Linsenmaier benefited, who found Marvin Neher: 3: 3 (37th).

But the damper followed before the second break when Evan Trupp, 45 seconds before the end, brought the guests back into the lead – of course in power play.

With a firm will: Wolves turn the game

Now the men of EHC trainer Peter Russel were challenged, who didn’t like the defensive performance of his troops at all. And the speech in the dressing room seemed to have worked: The wolves came out of the dressing room with a lot of momentum and finally used an urge phase in the person of Chris Billich, who equalized to 4: 4 (49th). In the meantime, Robin Benzing had moved into the Freiburg goal for Ben Meisner (neck problems) and kept his box clean several times.

Then Freiburg outnumbered – and finally success: Andrée Hult converted a margin in front of the guest goal and turned the game again (50th).

The final phase was an open exchange of blows, but the wolves brought the game over time and kept the three points in Breisgau. On Sunday (29.11.2020) the wolves will be guest at the Löwen Frankfurt.
