The general coordinator of EH Bildu, Arnaldo Otegi, has demanded this Friday the vote of the sovereignist coalition because, as he has said, it is the one that guarantees that it can add the “necessary” votes in Euskadi and Navarra “to stop the heirs of Francoism “.
Otegi has made this reflection during the act of closing the campaign for the general elections that his coalition has held late this afternoon on the Boulevard of San Sebastián and in which he has been accompanied by the EH Bildu candidates for the Cortes Generales Mertxe Aizpurua and Gorka Elejabarrieta.
In his speech, in which he did not make any reference to the controversy caused by the distribution of the presidencies of the Vitoria City Council commissions between his formation and the PP, Otegi warned of the “authoritarian exit to the serious crisis of the regime ” that, in his opinion, “the heirs of Francoism” intend to “impose” after the elections on Sunday.
An “option” that, as he has stated, is not that of EH Bildu and that, if it is in his hands, “will not come” because the sovereignist coalition has as one of its “principles” to bet on “tipping the scales to the left” and towards “anti-fascism” wherever possible.
“This Sunday,” he continued, “we are at stake for some to implement, through a reactionary bloc, policies that put our land, our country, our homeland, our institutions, our self-government, and our national and social rights at risk.”
“But we also have a great opportunity – he continued -, a dream. We have the opportunity for the nations of the State, mainly Euskal Herria and Catalonia, to add enough votes and deputies to defeat the reactionary bloc.”
“This alone – he added – is already a sufficient and powerful reason to go to vote next Sunday with a smile.”
Otegi has also taken “for granted” that the Basque pro-independence left “is going to come out enormously strengthened” after the elections, although he has admitted that “the second part: being decisive” is still missing. “Because if we are – he has revealed – the balance will tip to the left and to the sovereignty of the peoples”.
He also explained that, although in the elections on 23-J you can also vote for “the same parties as always”, this will only serve to “continue doing the same thing they have done up to now”.
On the contrary, doing so will be an “opportunity” to “change things, improve the country” and fight for “freedom, justice and equality”, he concluded.
