Egypt’s representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Osama Abdel Khaleq, said that the Security Council failed to fulfill its duty by establishing a ceasefire in Gaza, adding that the war in the Gaza Strip is a collective punishment for the Palestinian people.

He added during his speech at a Security Council session on the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, shown by the Cairo News Channel, that the occupation is committing genocidal war crimes against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, stressing that the war in the Gaza Strip resulted in more than 17,000 martyrs. Innocent, defenseless Palestinian people.

He continued: “We commend the position of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, and his courage in defending the UN conventions regarding the Palestinian issue,” stressing that he called on the Security Council to deal with the current situation in the Gaza Strip.
