Books – Ahmed Gomaa:

The Medicines Authority of Egypt issued new warnings regarding the presence of certain medicinal products that are “altered” or not in accordance with specifications.

The first of these warnings was in the circular issued by the Authority, No. 27 of 2024, in which the Authority requested the withdrawal and suspension of the distribution of the preparation “Paramol ped supp”, batch numbers: 604042 and 607032, issued by the Authority. Company Misr.

The Authority explained that the reason for the warning was that the product produced for it did not match the batch specified by the Medicines Authority laboratories.

“Paramol” is one of the types of paracetamol to treat many illnesses such as headache, muscle pain, arthritis, back pain, toothache, colds, and fever.

The Authority also issued Circular No. 28 of 2024, requesting the suspension of distribution and seizure of adulterated containers of “Azrolid 500mg – 3 film-coated tablets”, batch number: 9013037 , and produced by Al Amriya Company.

The reason for the warning was based on the company’s statement about the presence of fake packages of this type.

The drug is used as an antibiotic to treat many types of infections caused by bacteria, such as respiratory infections, skin infections, and ear infections.

The Drugs Authority confirmed that this warning is specific to the works mentioned in the circular only and does not apply to the distribution of that preparation in general.

The Medicines Authority indicated that if there is any doubt about the preparation of a medicine, the Egyptian Medicines Authority should be contacted, either by calling the hotline 15301 or on the website of the Authority.
