Data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics in Egypt showed today, Sunday, that annual consumer price inflation in Egyptian cities rose to 37.4% last August from 36.5% in July of this year.
On a monthly basis, prices in August rose 1.6%, down from 1.9 in July.
Egypt is witnessing increases in the prices of basic commodities as a result of the repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian war and a devaluation of the currency’s exchange rate, which has reduced its value by more than 50% against the dollar since last March.
