Dr. Zahi Hawass, an Egyptologist, expressed his happiness at the current level of Al-Ahly club, and the efforts made by Swiss coach Marcel Koller, which resulted in the club winning 5 championships in the last season.
He said during an interview with the “On My Responsibility” program, which was presented by the journalist Ahmed Moussa on the “Sada Al-Balad” satellite channel, on Wednesday evening, that he hopes that Zamalek will get out of its current slump, stressing that Egyptian football will not be enjoyable if Zamalek or Al-Ahly were weak.
He stated that Counselor Mortada Mansour, the former president of Zamalek Club, was not impressed by his saying that the Pharaohs belonged to “Al-Ahly”, commenting: “He was upset with me when I said that the Pharaohs are Ahly, so I said that the Zamalekites are the ones who built the Great Pyramid.”
He explained that he was in the United States of America coinciding with the African Cup final match, and watched the match on his mobile phone with his hand trembling, adding that the goal of the player, Mohamed Abdel Moneim, was the happiest moment in his life.

He touched on the referees’ performance, saying: “Hours say, it is not possible for a referee to visit. We can excuse the referees because they have too much pressure, and I hope we have strict decisions on Al-Ahly, Zamalek and all clubs; Because it is the only thing that raises the ball in Egypt.
He wished the crowd back in the stadium, but with a thorough search of those present and severe punishment applied to anyone who erred.
And regarding the place where he likes to follow Al-Ahly matches, he said: “I follow it with the group of Al-Fursan, but for hours I wish to escape in order to lock myself in a room and see Al-Ahly alone.
