The crackers sector achieved a remarkable growth by 19.2% to reach 180.1 million pounds, representing 4.8% of the snacks segment, which is dominated by potato chips products with a total of 3.7 billion pounds, and the size of the wafer market increased by 4% to reach 883.7 million pounds, and the sweets market witnessed a growth By 9%, to reach 308.6 million pounds.

The volume of investments of the food industries sector in Egypt reaches 500 billion pounds, and an average growth rate of 20% during the period from 2015-2020 is expected, and it is expected that a growth rate ranges between 25-30% during the current year, and the sector contributes to employing more than 7 million workers. Directly or indirectly, the number of companies registered with the Chamber of Food Industries of the Federation of Egyptian Industries is more than 13 thousand companies.

While the volume of sales of the food industry sector amounted to about $ 17 billion in 2018, and it is expected that the volume of sales will reach about $ 22 billion during the next five years, and the food industries sector is ranked third in the list of the most exported sectors.
