Through a book due out this month, Prince Harry has revealed he was physically assaulted by his brother William, who is now the Prince of Wales, when their relationship fell apart over his first marriage to American actress Meghan Markle.
According to the newspaper “KeeperPrince Harry, second son of King Charles, has opened up details of the confrontation that brought him together with his brother William in 2019 in London, after the latter described Megan as “rude” and “difficult”.
The confrontation escalated, Harry wrote, until “William grabbed me by the collar, snatched my necklace and … threw me to the floor.”
Harry said in his book that he suffered a back injury from the attack, which he recounted with many other facts through his book “Spear”, which is due out next week worldwide and is likely to cause a stir for the British royal family, as happens with interviews and a documentary on the life of the prince, broadcast by the Netflix platform.
And “Spear” means reserve, and the name of the book is taken from an old adage in royal and aristocratic circles: the first son is an heir to titles, power and wealth, and the second is a reserve in case anything happens to the firstborn.
Harry says he didn’t immediately tell his wife, Meghan, about his brother’s assault. When Meghan later noticed “bruises and scrapes” on her back, Harry said she was “neither surprised nor angry” after she told her the truth. “It was very sad,” he added.
Harry, a former British army captain, and his wife Megan, an American television actress who is of different races, were seen at an earlier stage as the modern face of the monarchy following their marriage in 2018. But after less of two years later they gave up the royal titles and moved to the United States and faced a series of hurtful criticisms.
Harry, 37, and Meghan, 40, set up a charity in California but angered palace fans after they backed out and later revealed real-life details in a sensational TV interview.
Relations were cold between the two brothers, William and Harry, and for a long time they did not appear in public with their wives, except for their appearance in September in front of Windsor Palace to greet the crowds who had come to throw flowers in honor of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
