Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from French President Emmanuel Macron.

Counselor Ahmed Fahmy, the official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, stated that the call dealt with consultation and coordination regarding efforts to stop the ongoing escalation in the Gaza Strip between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, as the two presidents expressed deep concern about the successive and dangerous deterioration of events, while stressing the need for all international efforts to be focused. The regional and regional committees are currently working to stop the escalation and violence, and to exercise the utmost levels of restraint, with the aim of containing the situation and preventing the loss of more lives.

The official spokesman added that the President indicated that Egypt has carried out extensive contacts with the Israeli and Palestinian sides and international and regional actors, in order to contain the current escalation, warning of the danger of the situation deteriorating and sliding into more violence and deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, and entering the region into a vicious cycle of tension that threatens Regional stability and security.
