Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Apologizes for Map Excluding Kuwait

Officials at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs apologized to the Kuwaiti embassy in Cairo for displaying a map that did not include the State of Kuwait during a course for officers.

The Kuwaiti Embassy in Egypt issued a statement “about a lecturer in one of the courses in which a group of Kuwaiti officers participated presenting a map of the Arab world that does not include the international borders of the State of Kuwait.”

The Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Majlis published a picture of the map that was presented during the session, showing that Kuwait is part of Iraq.

The embassy explained in its statement that it “coordinated with the military office in Cairo and communicated with officials in the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the party organizing this session to find out the reasons for displaying an unofficial map that does not include the recognized international borders of the State of Kuwait.”

The statement added, “Those parties indicated that displaying this map was an unintended error by the lecturer. The organizers of this session apologized to the attendees for this error, which was not intended in any way to insult the State of Kuwait, stressing that the historical and close relations between The governments and peoples of the two brotherly countries cannot be touched or influenced.”
