Today, Monday, the Administrative Court in Egypt considered the lawsuit filed by a lawyer to cancel the concert of international rapper Travis Scott, which is scheduled to be held on July 28 in Egypt.
The court requested extracting a statement from the Permanent Supreme Committee for Organizing Festivals and Carnivals to ascertain whether the company organizing the party had applied for a residence permit or not, given that the committee is the only one authorized to approve the issuance of permits for holding festivals and carnivals in accordance with Prime Ministerial Resolution No. 1238 of 2018.

For his part, Amr Abdel Salam, the lawyer who filed the lawsuit, said that any statements issued by other than this committee are not considered at all, explaining to Al-Arabiya.net that the court allowed the defense to extract an exact copy of the report of examining the artistic content submitted by the singer and his band to indicate whether or not this content was examined by the censorship of artistic works before the permit was issued.
In a related context, and in statements to Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper, Mohamed Serag, the managing director of the company responsible for selling tickets to Travis Scott’s concert, said that he could not decide on holding the concert only 5 days before it was held, stressing that the equipment and the foreign team accompanying Scott (which is already in Egypt) were not allowed to enter the pyramids area, in which the preparations were supposed to start on the 20th of this month.
Siraj added that at the same time, no party informed him of the cancellation of the ceremony, explaining that the size of the initial losses for canceling the ceremony amounted to approximately 300 million pounds directly, at a time when about 4,000 confirmed tickets were reserved for foreigners who will arrive in Egypt to attend the ceremony, and each of them will stay for at least a week, which means 28 thousand nights in Egyptian hotels.
He said that the real crisis lies in the need to release Travis Scott’s new album, which millions of people around the world are waiting for, on July 27, i.e. at the end of this week, at a time when it was not possible to obtain the most important permit to enter the pyramids area so far, denying all the rumors that were launched by some on the subject of “devil worshipers” or something else.
He added that if the ceremony is not held, he will sue those responsible for the electronic brigades that spread the rumors and caused the expected losses, hoping at the same time that the efforts of the Ministry of Tourism in all its aspects will bear fruit and allow Travis Scott’s team to enter the pyramids.
International rapper Travis Scott had sent a message to the Egyptians, urging them not to believe the rumors circulating about his concert. The international star ridiculed the accusations against him, and said in a statement: “I do not have any strange inappropriate rituals, but rather they are just celebrations that I present with my fans.”
The singer denied the idea of his atheism and worshiping Satan, saying: “I am from the state of Houston, a state that has customs and traditions in respecting the idea of the family, and I am from a religious family, and regularly attend prayers in the church.”
He added, “I have not presented, throughout my artistic career, any song that carries an insult to any people in the world,” stressing his full respect for the Egyptian people, who have all the respect and appreciation for them.
