Egyptian Court Postpones Trial of Grill Shop Worker Accused of Killing Crippled Man for Money

Al-Marsad newspaper: An Egyptian court postponed the trial of a grill shop worker who killed a crippled elderly man in order to seize 6,000 pounds, to the next March 10 session.

The events of the crime date back to last October, after the Egyptian security services received a report indicating that a foul odor was emanating from an elderly person’s residence, and it was found that there was a crippled body that showed signs of assault.

The accused said in his confessions about the murder: “One time, my son asked me for money to get breakfast, and the store where I worked did not have money. I went to the victim and when he opened his bag, I saw a lot of money in it, and he gave me 150 pounds, according to “Cairo 24.”

He added: After 10 days, I was suffocating and went to the victim at dawn. The door was open and I entered and found him sleeping, and I noticed his small bag and the phone, pointing out: The victim asked me to change his clothes because he was crippled and bedridden.

He continued: I asked the elderly man and said to him, “Are you upset with me, Uncle Mahmoud?” He said to me, “I am not upset with you at all.” So I told him, “I am sorry, Uncle Mahmoud. I will kill you.” I took the rope that closed the bag, wrapped it around his neck, and pulled it. He fell to the ground, and I locked the door of the apartment and fled to the apartment. Giza.

He continued: It was a small handbag containing about 6,200 pounds, a rivet tape, and the victim’s phone, adding: I did not have anything with me except my handbag, which was closed and opened with the rope with which I strangled him.
