Egyptian Citizen Arrested for Desecrating Qur’an in Russian City of Ulyanovsk

Al-Marsad Newspaper: A video clip of an “Egyptian” publicly desecrating the Holy Qur’an spread, as it turned out that the clip was circulating in the Russian city of Ulyanovsk.

According to Russian media, the Egyptian citizen who desecrated the Holy Qur’an and poured alcohol on it is named Saeed Abdel Razek, born in 1995 and living in Ulyanovsk, where he fled in the summer of 2019 to Russia and was baptized in an Orthodox church after he apostatized from Islam in Egypt.

And the governor of the Russian province of Ulyanovsk, Alexei Ruskikh, announced the arrest of the Egyptian citizen after he publicly desecrated the Qur’an, which he then reportedly burned.

On Wednesday, the ruler wrote on Telegram: “A video clip circulated on the Internet, of a foreign citizen desecrating the Qur’an, the holy book of Muslims. According to preliminary information, it was an outlet for provocation in the city of Ulyanovsk.”

This came after an Iraqi man burned a copy of the Quran outside Stockholm’s central mosque, on the first day of Eid al-Adha.
