The Chairman of the Defense and National Security Committee of the Egyptian House of Representatives, Major General Ahmed Al-Awadi, commented in an exclusive interview with Sky News Arabia on the two incidents of the crash of an unidentified drone in the Egyptian city of Taba, in addition to the fall of a projectile on the city of Nuweiba, in the early hours of Friday morning.
Al-Awadi said, “Egyptian national security is a red line, and this is what Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has stressed many times. Certainly, Cairo will not, under any circumstances, allow attacks on its lands. This is unacceptable at all levels.”
He pointed out that “the drone incident that fell over Taba is still in the process of official investigations, to search for the identity of who launched it, as well as investigations into the Nuweiba projectile incident, and we await those results and trust in the capabilities of all official institutions.”
The Head of Defense and National Security in the Egyptian Parliament added, “Egypt reserves its right to respond at the appropriate time and place, and all options are on the table,” stressing that Egypt possesses “the capabilities with which it can respond to any hostilities.”
Al-Awadi explained that “the Egyptian people have authorized President Sisi to take the necessary decisions and measures to protect national security in its various aspects.” However, he stressed that “the political leadership is wise in its decisions, and can take the appropriate decision amid these successive developments.”
He stressed that Cairo is still conducting consultations with all regional and international parties to warn of the danger of the escalation of the situation in the Gaza Strip to regional and international security and peace.
