The Egyptian military spokesman announced new details in an accident where an officer trampled a female pharmacist to death and injured her family members.
In a new statement, the spokesman said that, as a continuation of the judicial procedures taken regarding the incident, the Military Prosecutor stated that the Military Prosecution had completed the ongoing investigations in Case No. 170/2023 “Military felonies” east of Cairo against the accused, adding that the case had been referred to the “urgent” criminal trial. The New Cairo area witnessed a run-over incident involving a pharmacist, her doctor’s husband, and their three children, in addition to another who was accompanying them on a street in the First Settlement Police Department.
Surveillance cameras revealed the details of the accident, as the driver of the car causing the accident, an officer, intentionally ran over the pharmacist because it was reported that one of her sons had scratched his car.
The accident resulted in the death of the pharmacist from a cerebral hemorrhage. The father, a veterinarian, was also injured. Their three children sustained separate injuries, and they were taken to the hospital for treatment.
According to eyewitness accounts, the victim’s wife is named Basma, and she is the wife of a doctor named Hamdan Zaki who works for a pharmaceutical company in an Arab country, and she was on leave to visit her family in Egypt during Eid al-Adha.
It turned out that the cause of the accident was due to the fact that the family’s child was playing with a “scooter” in front of the house, and he collided with the accused’s car.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that the officer got into his car and followed the father and his family and deliberately ran them all over, resulting in the death of the mother and the injury of the rest of the family.
