Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Egyptian artist Ashraf Abdel Ghafour died on Sunday, at the age of 81, as a result of a traffic accident, according to the government portal Al-Ahram.
In posts on social media platforms, the Egyptian Acting Professions Syndicate and many artists expressed their sadness over the death of the artist Ashraf Abdel Ghafour.
The late artist began his artistic career on the stages of Egyptian theaters in the early sixties of the last century, and during this career, which spanned nearly 50 years, he played dozens of roles in theatre, cinema and television.
He left a special mark in historical television dramas, as in the series “Omar Bin Abdul Aziz” and “Haroun Al-Rashid.” His last role on television was his role in the series “Rashid,” alongside his daughter, actress Reham Abdel Ghafour.
The late artist assumed the position of Captain of the Acting Professions Syndicate, and was succeeded in the position by the current Captain Ashraf Zaki.
