Egypt receives “positive indicators” regarding extending the truce in Gaza

Egypt said on Saturday that it had received “positive indicators” from all parties regarding the possibility of extending the truce in Gaza for a day or two.

And he said Diaa Rashwan The head of the State Information Service said in a statement that Egypt is holding intensive talks with all parties to reach an agreement “to extend the truce between the Israeli and Palestinian sides for an additional day or two, which means the release of more detainees in Gaza and Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons.”

Egypt, along with Qatar and the United States, mediated between Israel and Hamas to reach a truce agreement that will last four days, subject to extension.

The agreement stipulated the cessation of military actions in the Gaza Strip and the exchange of 50 hostages held in Gaza and 150 detainees in Israeli prisons.

The first 24 hostages released by Hamas on Friday night arrived in Israel via Egypt.
Accordingly, on Friday, about 200 trucks carrying aid entered Gaza, from the Rafah site in Egypt.

This is the “largest humanitarian convoy” to enter the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the war.

US President Joe Biden said on Friday that Hamas’s release of the first group of hostages was “only the beginning,” stressing that there were “real opportunities” to extend the four-day truce.
