An Egyptian official denied what was reported by international media, on Saturday, about the existence of coordination with Israel regarding new security measures on the Philadelphia axis, according to a Sky News Arabia correspondent.
The Salah al-Din Axis, known as the “Philadelphia Axis,” extends inside the Gaza Strip from the Mediterranean Sea in the north to the Kerem Shalom crossing in the south along the Egyptian border, which is about 14 kilometers.
The American Wall Street Journal quoted Israeli sources as saying, on Saturday, that Israel had informed Egypt of its plan to control the Philadelphia axis soon.
The newspaper reported that Israel informed Egypt that it was “planning a military operation inside Gaza along the border with Egypt.”
She explained, “The operation will likely include the removal of Palestinian officials from a major crossing point, and the stationing of Israeli forces along the southeastern corner of Gaza adjacent to both Israel and Egypt towards the Mediterranean Sea, about 8 miles (about 12 kilometers) to the northwest.”

The Wall Street Journal noted: “For Israel, restoring the border area would deal a strategic blow to Hamas, by controlling its tunnels in the region, limiting the flow of weapons, and preventing its fighters from escaping the Gaza Strip.”
She added: “But for the Palestinians, this would be a retreat from the symbol of Palestinian sovereignty, and it could also open the door for Israel to retain control of the borders long after the war, which would change the security arrangements with Gaza, which have been in place for nearly two decades.” “Time.”
In this regard, the former head of the Palestinian Affairs Department in Israeli military intelligence, Michael Milshtein, said: “There is no chance that we will allow this crossing to operate as it was before, but the situation is much more complicated than it is in northern and central Gaza, where Israeli ground forces have been operating until now.” “.

On the other hand, the American newspaper revealed that Egypt is “concerned that the Israeli operation could violate the terms of the peace agreement signed between the two countries in 1979, which places restrictions on the number of forces that both countries can deploy near the border in the region.”
She continued: “Also, any Israeli military operation may lead to collateral damage inside Egyptian territory.”
Israeli officials say they are working to address these concerns by coordinating their plans with Egypt.
Egypt had previously denied media reports regarding the existence of Egyptian-Israeli cooperation regarding the Philadelphia Axis.
An official Egyptian source confirmed in exclusive statements to Cairo News Channel that such news is completely false.
