Egypt Confirms Monitoring of “Iris” Mutated Virus

The Egyptian authorities confirmed, on Tuesday, the monitoring of the “Iris” mutated virus emerging in the country.

The Ministry of Health and Population said that it had recorded two cases of the new variant of COVID-@DIGITS disease, as they showed mild symptoms, pointing out that they are recovering.

The new mutant belongs to the “XBB” strain descended from the “Omicron” mutant, which is still at the forefront of the most common strains of the Corona virus in the world.

And World Health confirms that the available data “do not indicate that the new strain poses a greater threat to public health than other strains currently circulating, mutated from Omicron.”

And the World Health Organization stated that more than 17 percent of the Covid infections that were detected in the world in mid-July are due to the “E-G5” mutator.

Iris has his own variant known as EG5, which is also rapidly spreading, according to virological health experts.

The Egyptian Ministry of Health confirmed that the symptoms of infection with the new variant are “simple”, as it did not recommend new measures.

She stated that the medical recommendations “are still vaccination with enhanced doses, especially for the groups most affected by the disease, such as the elderly, those with chronic diseases, and diseases that affect the response of the body’s immune system.”

Kuwait was the first Arab country to announce the monitoring of the new variant of the emerging corona virus, but the health authorities in the Gulf country have reduced its severity.
