Egypt is the first country to reach the “gold level” in eliminating hepatitis C according to WHO standards

Egypt diagnosed 87% of those living with the virus and provided curative treatment to 93% of those diagnosed.

Egypt moved from one of the highest infection rates in the world to a country with one of the lowest rates by reducing the prevalence of hepatitis C from 10% to 0.38%.

Starting in 2014, Egypt launched a national campaign to eliminate hepatitis C

The “100 Million Health” campaign resulted in the screening of more than 60 million people, and the treatment of more than 4.1 million.

The cure rate for hepatitis C among people who received treatment was 99%.
