Cairo (Special about Egypt) – Egypt and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria signed a framework agreement aimed at strengthening health systems in Egypt, according to United Nations Development Program website.
This initiative reinforces Egypt’s continued commitment to combating HIV and TB while addressing the ongoing challenges of COVID-19. The United Nations Development Program plans to coordinate these life-saving services in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Population and civil society organizations.

Achievements and future goals
In 2023, significant progress was achieved under the leadership of UNDP and its partners. More than 18,600 people received HIV prevention kits, and nearly 5,000 people were screened for TB using rapid diagnostic kits recommended by the World Health Organization.
In addition, approximately 1,000 people, including the migrant population, benefited from direct treatment for tuberculosis. These achievements reflect concerted efforts to protect and enhance vulnerable communities.
