Coach Indonesian National team Shin Tae Yong calling Stefano Lilipaly as a replacement for Egy Maulana Vikri for the FIFA Matchday against Burundi on March 25 and 28.
This certainty was revealed by PSSI through social media accounts, Friday (17/3). Lilipaly entered the squad to replace the injured Eggy at Dewa United.
“Stefano Lilipaly was officially summoned by Coach Shin Tae-yong to attend a training camp before the FIFA Match Day match against Burundi,” PSSI wrote.
“He replaces Egy Maulana Vikri who is still recovering from injury. Welcome to join, Fano!” PSSI continued.
Lilipaly is the Indonesian player with the most assists in League 1 this season. The naturalized midfielder has packed eight assists with Borneo FC.
The former Bali United player has also scored seven goals. The last time Lilipaly strengthened the Indonesian national team was in the Asian Cup qualifiers in June 2022.
Interestingly, it was previously reported that Lilipaly was disappointed not to be included in the Indonesian national team squad to fight Burundi. The 33-year-old midfielder uploaded the word ‘Funny’ shortly after Shin Tae Yong announced the Indonesian national team squad.
Some netizens also criticized Shin Tae Yong for not calling good players in League 1 like Lilipaly, but instead they still called Egy and Witan Sulaeman who performed poorly in League 1.
Until now, Lilipaly has collected 27 caps and scored three goals with the Indonesian national team.
The Indonesian national team is scheduled to face Burundi on the FIFA Matchday at Patriot Stadium, Bekasi, March 25 and 28.
