The brightest Latvian bass baritone Egils Siliņš is a winner of ten international competitions, a three-time winner of the Latvian Grand Music Prize and an officer of the Order of the Three Stars. In 2011 she was recognized as the best opera singer in Croatia. Conquers all major world operas – Vienna State Opera, New York Metropolitan Opera, Milan La Scala, The Bastille Opera in Paris, the Covent Garden Opera in London, the Hamburg State Opera, the German Opera in Berlin, the Graz Opera, and many other world operas. He has also participated in the most prestigious music festivals, including the Bregenz, Tanglwood, Savonlinna and Glaindborn festivals.
Italian tenor Dario di Vietri, who has won laurels and received significant critical acclaim in many prestigious world opera houses, and the new Serbian opera diva – soprano Maria Jelic, who started her professional career a few years ago has already won the sympathy of listeners and critics in many countries around the world. Both opera singers will perform in Latvia for the first time.
The concert will feature captivating opera melodies by Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, Richard Wagner, Franz Lehar, Pietro Maskanji, Anton Rubinstein and Ruger Leonkavallo.
“Giuseppe Verdi’s and Giacomo Puccini’s compositions have a lot of emotional and technical sophistication, as well as strong performance traditions – this music is very close to me, I have interpreted it very often. I have rarely conducted music by Richard Wagner, but it is so strong “I have even included two compositions of this genius from the opera Nuremberg ‘s masterpieces in the concert program,” says conductor Atvars Lakstīgala.
As previously reported, this year’s festival Liepaja summer will return to their historic home – Liepāja Jurmala Park, the renovated concert garden Blow wind!, where in three concerts listeners will be given a great wealth of genres, styles and eras. On August 5, the festival invites to a symphonic music concert with the participation of pianist Vestards Šimkus and saxophonist Oskars Petrauskas, with Guntis Kuzmas at the conductor of the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra. But on August 27, the groups will be able to enjoy the symphony for the first time Thunder performance.
