Egg Crisis in Russia: Lukashenko Mocks Russian Authorities during Eurasian Economic Council Meeting

The egg crisis in Russia caused Lukashenko to ridicule the Russian authorities.

Even its closest allies are starting to laugh at Russia due to the egg crisis that has hit the Russian Federation. Today, during a meeting of the Eurasian Economic Council in St. Petersburg, Russia, President of Belarus Lukashenko could not stand it and began to mock the Russian Federation and its authorities due to the shortage of chicken eggs in the country. The incident occurred on air and was caught on live cameras.

In response, Putin began asking Lukashenko for Belarus to supply at least some eggs to the Russian market. A fragment of the video is published by the Telegram channel “Ukraine 365“.

The egg crisis in Russia began in December 2023. As a result of sanctions imposed by the West, as well as general economic problems in the Russian Federation, egg production has decreased, and imports are also difficult. As a result, egg prices in Russia have increased several times. Moscow turned to Turkey and Azerbaijan for help.

According to Rosstat, in November 2023, the average price for chicken eggs in Russia was 120 rubles per dozen. This is 70% more than in October.

We previously reported that since the beginning of 2023, eggs in the Russian Federation have risen in price by 53%.

Let us remind you that a social survey showed that for Russians the No. 1 topic in 2023 was the increase in egg prices.
