Egan Bernal’s mother Flor Marina Gómezhas become one of the voices that has made visible the implications of the fight against cancer. The athlete’s mother has shared with her followers each stage of her diagnosis and recovery to show the importance of early diagnosis.

Fight against cancer
Flor Marina has taken advantage of her social networks to be a voice of encouragement, but also to raise awareness about the importance of attend controls to detect this disease. After several months of chemotherapy treatment, mastectomy, Gomez has remained positive about her process.

With a video of his last radiation therapy session, the cyclist’s mother shared an emotional message about his recovery.
“Today I finished my radiotherapy, I just thank God and everyone for their prayers and messages of motivation, Today I can give my testimony that breast cancer, if detected early, can be cured.. Although there is still a long way to go, a very long treatment. A couple of reconstruction surgeries, the usual controls and care”wrote.
The followers of Flor Marina’s story were quick to share their messages of support and admiration for her resilience.

Her testimony as a mother
Flor Marina Gómez has shown the closeness she has with her sons, Egan and Ronald Bernal, as well as her support in the sports career of the youngsters. On the occasion of the anniversary of the Egan’s accidentfor which he had to be operated on and transferred to the ICU due to the seriousness of his injuries, Gómez revealed that it was one of the hardest moments of his life.
“One year after the terrible accident. 365 days thanking God for allowing my son to be born again. Someone asked me that my cancer is the most difficult thing that has happened to me in my life. I told him no”, wrote.
“Nothing compares to the pain of a mother when she feels that she can lose her son. Today it is just thanks to God and to all the people who were there to save his life.” pointed out.
