Amusement park Efteling fears that a new attraction and a new hotel will soon not be able to run at full capacity due to a power shortage. The amusement park manager has applied for a new connection, but there is a long waiting list in North Brabant.
Efteling is currently building Danse Macabre, a new attraction that will take the place of the Spookslot. A new large seven-storey hotel is also planned near the main entrance.
This obviously requires a lot of power and that must be supplied via a new connection. But there is a long waiting list at grid operator Enexis and it is not certain whether the amusement park will receive a new power connection in time, reports Brabants Dagblad. This mainly concerns the winter months, when the yield of solar panels is much lower.
The park says it is now looking at other options to have enough power later. It is not clear what options are being considered.
The power grid has been overcrowded for a long time. Not only in Brabant, but also in other parts of the country. This is because we use more electricity due to the energy transition, for example to charge the car. Many homes are also moving away from gas and use more electricity as a result.
