The era of officially began Ephrain Juarez in National Athletic. The Mexican coach coached his first match with the club in the friendly against América de México that was played this Saturday in the United States and ended in a 2-2 draw.
Alfredo Morelos and Álvaro Angulo would be in charge of scoring for the Verdolagas, who once again had David Ospina on the field, who has fully recovered from his elbow injury.
At the end of the game, Juárez expressed his feelings and praised the team’s work to neutralize the Mexicans, but that many things need to be improved from here on out.
“It was a good idea to play against the two-time Mexican champions, with a great squad. We played a pretty decent game, very competitive. I think we did things very well in the first half, the boys followed the game plan and in the second half, beyond everything, they adjusted and in that adjustment we had a couple of mistakes that cost us the game,” said the coach in the mixed zone for the newspaper Récord.
He added: “But I think my team was intense, a tall team, good with the ball, brave with and without the ball and that is what matters a lot to me. We have to keep working, to get the idea, to be more consistent in the minutes. We are happy with the good feelings, but there are many things missing and we have to go for more.”
Finally, the coach thanked the fans who went to Camping World Stadium in Florida to support the team: “I would like to thank the fans because they are honest and sincere fans, who follow us everywhere and we always try to represent them in the best way possible on the field.”
It should be noted that Juárez’s first official challenge at Nacional will be on the weekend of September 22 when they visit Bucaramanga at the Américo Montanini stadium.
