Tegucigalpa– Javier Efraín Bú Soto was nominated by the Honduran authorities as the new Honduran ambassador to the United States by appointment of President Xiomara Castro, pending Washington’s approval.
– The approval of the United States is expected, said Foreign Minister Reina.
– It is expected to be confirmed in the next three months, otherwise it is understood that the US does not give it its approval, said Deputy Foreign Minister Tony García.
Since February, the Chancellery of the Republic appointed Bú Soto as Chargé d’Affaires at the Honduran embassy in Washington.
Javier Efraín Bú Soto came to replace the former ambassador in Washington, Luis Suazo. Bú assumed functions as Charge d’Affaires and his performance to date continues to be in that position.
The new diplomatic representative of Honduras in Washington will have the task of working on migration issues and their causes, managing the continuity of the Temporary Protection Status TPS, the situation of children at the border, the dignified treatment and rights of migrants, work visas, in addition to strengthening the bilateral relationship between the countries, was described in the official newspaper Poder Ciudadano.
