Jakarta

Acting (Pj) Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono looked at the conditions DKI Jakarta skyline which has turned blue again is thanks to the efforts of all parties to overcome air pollution. As is known, in the last few days, air quality has improved, as indicated by the sky becoming clear again.

“Because of all of us,” said Heru Budi at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (12/9/2023).

Heru assessed that there were other factors that caused this sky in Jakarta turned blue in addition to the ‘air pollution rinse’ operation carried out by BNPB et al. In Jakarta, for example, currently the DKI Provincial Government is intensifying the implementation of micro weather modification technology (TMC) through installation water mist in tall buildings.

Even though the impact is still small, Heru believes that the efforts made can slowly overcome air pollution.

“The most effective thing is to have a small percentage to fight pollution,” he said.

As is known, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) revealed the steps taken to improve air quality in Jakarta. In the past week, tens of thousands of liters of water have been sprayed from planes in Jakarta skyline.

“The government continues to strive to reduce air pollution in the capital city of Jakarta, one of which is by implementing Weather Modification Technology (TMC) using the water mist spraying using two Cesna aircraft,” said Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari in a written statement, today.

Abdul Muhari said that weather modification efforts to suppress air police in Jakarta were carried out by BNPB together with BRIN, BMKG, TNI and other related parties in the Jakarta area. Jakarta’s ‘air pollution flush’ operation has been carried out in the past week.

“This operation was carried out from Monday (4/9) to Monday (11/9) with a flight duration of 82 hours 50 minutes and carrying 70,500 liters of water which was sprayed to form artificial evaporation in the skies of Jakarta,” he said.

He explained that in one day, each plane made four sorties in several areas in Jakarta, including Central Jakarta, East Jakarta and North Jakarta.

“This effort is starting to have a significant impact where there is a reduction in the value of PM 2.5 pollutants according to iqair.com so that the skies in the Jakarta area are starting to look clean.
