According to the consumer price trend announced by the National Statistical Office, the consumer price index in July rose 2.3% from the same month last year, and agricultural and livestock products fell 1.5%.
Compared to the previous month, consumer price trends for July, when the torrential rains continued, were apples (17.0), lettuce (83.3), spinach (66.9), cucumbers (23.2), tomatoes (10.2), green onions (9.7), radishes (55.3), and cabbages (6.1). ) showed an overall upward trend.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs forecasts that consumer prices will remain stable in August as prices of vegetables, which had been strong, such as lettuce, are gradually stabilizing, and supply and demand conditions for other agricultural and livestock products are generally good.
On the afternoon of the 1st, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs held a ‘Discussion on Supply and Demand Status of Agricultural and Livestock Products’ with related organizations such as large marts and Nonghyup, presided over by the Distribution and Consumption Policy Officer, to share the supply and demand outlook and countermeasures for major agricultural and livestock products after heavy rains, and to stabilize prices of agricultural and livestock products in the summer. We requested cooperation from the distribution industry for this.
