Effort to promote breast cancer prevention among Huelva women

Drafting. The Huelva City Council and the Huelva Breast Cancer Association ‘Santa Águeda’ have signed a collaboration agreement aimed at reinforcing the prevention and guidance work that this entity carries out in the capital through the development of services and programs for the comprehensive care of people suffering from this disease and their families.

As the mayor of Huelva, Gabriel Cruz, has shown, “for yet another year we renew our commitment to the ‘Santa Águeda’ Association, a well-known and beloved entity in our city, which has been carrying out a great job of prevention, awareness and support to people affected by breast cancer since 1993 ”.

In this sense, after the signing in the Consistory, the councilor wanted to have “a very special memory for Charo Venegas, president who was of the association for more than two decades and who left the seed of good work sown in Huelva.”

Thus, the mission of the Onubense Breast Cancer Association, an entity currently chaired by María Josefa Amarillo, is to provide psychosocial care to affected people and their families, to try to minimize the impact and consequences that this disease produces. In addition, they are in charge of offering information, emotional support and accompaniment, among many other services and with the important collaboration of volunteers, promoting in turn the research section.

For all these reasons, for the Huelva City Council it is being a priority in these moments of health crisis to support initiatives such as these, aimed at promoting health and self-care, with which it is also contributing to the improvement of the quality of life of patients Huelva.

In this regard, in coordination with ‘Santa Águeda’, throughout the year outreach actions are carried out that closely address the importance of prevention and self-examination, since the early detection of breast cancer is considered essential to save lives.

Likewise, with municipal collaboration, through this agreement, awareness campaigns are launched in the city to combat the lack of information about this disease, the main source of fear and anxiety for patients, as well as to transmit the message to women. that, although breast cancer is a serious disease, it can be cured if it is detected early, as the association insists.
