Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
WhatsApp Confirm that users will no longer be able to send and receive messages if they reject the new privacy policy instant message that’s what went into effect May 15th.
This will happen within weeks of users rejecting WhatsApp’s new privacy policy. The so called user will start losing access to their chat list.
Users can only send messages or receive calls when contacted first and click the notification that appears.
After that, in the following weeks, users will no longer be able to receive calls or notifications. The time at which this policy is enforced will vary from user to user.
Even though they cannot send and receive messages, user accounts are not automatically deleted if the user refuses to agree to this policy, as reported Business Insider.
Initially, the new privacy policy was scheduled to take effect from February 2021. However, it was postponed three months after receiving criticism from users who suspected the update would allow WhatsApp to share personal data with its parent company, Facebook.
WhatsApp has repeatedly denied this. They said the policy only applies to business accounts so being able to connect to Facebook is easier.
They claim again that they cannot read or listen to users’ private conversations because those conversations are encrypted end-to-end. WhatsApp says that will never change.
In official page, WhatsApp has deliberately postponed the effective date of the update so that users have enough time to review the changes. If it has not received the update until that date, WhatsApp claims it will not delete the user account.
“However, you will not get all WhatsApp functionality until you receive the update. In the meantime, you will still be able to receive calls and notifications, but you will not be able to read or send messages on WhatsApp,” WhatsApp said.
Previously, WhatsApp stated that if they decided to leave the platform, users could move their chat history to another platform.
It’s also important to note that the upcoming updates are not about changing the privacy of your private conversations. This change is especially true for business chats.
This Facebook-owned chat platform insists that communication between people will remain confidential. People who agree to the new policy will not see any difference to their daily WhatsApp experience.
