Dr. Khaled Al-Nimr, professor of cardiology and cardiac catheterization, confirmed that excessive consumption of dates is one of the well-known causes of uncontrolled diabetes and thus increases its complications on the eyes, heart, kidneys, and others.
Al-Nimr explained, through his official account on the social networking site “Twitter,” that the number of dates allowed daily depends on the patient’s weight, his daily exercise, and the extent of his diabetes control.

He continued: “If he is overweight and does not move at all, he should stay away from dates, and if his weight is normal, his blood sugar is controlled, and he exercises daily, then the number of dates should be calculated from his daily calories (meaning it should not exceed approximately 4 dates).”
Al-Nimr pointed out that dates are a healthy food, but they contain a high percentage of sugars, so they should be eaten in moderation.
