REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The Head of the Ministry of Health’s Communications and Public Services Bureau, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, said that preventing mosquito nests is still the most effective way to treat dengue fever.
“Currently there is a dengue fever vaccine that the community can use independently. But remember, even though we are vaccinated, it is still possible to get dengue fever. So we need PSN and 3M still to do,” said Nadia in Jakarta, Monday (6/5/2024).
The 3M is by draining water reservoirs, closing water reservoirs, and recycling materials that are at risk of being used as breeding grounds for mosquitoes. In addition, he also said that the cooperation of the community and the local government was needed, as it was impossible for health officials to ensure that every resident’s house was free from mosquito nests.
Nadia explained that the highest cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever were in Bandung City, Tangerang Regency, Bogor City, Kendari and West Bandung Regency. Meanwhile, he said, the highest death rates were in Bandung Regency, Jepara Regency, Bekasi City, Subang and Kendal Regency.
He explained that this disease mostly affects children aged five to 14 years, because their immune systems are not yet fully formed. According to him, adults are at risk of catching it and contracting dengue fever as well, but it is possible that it penetrates to some extent. prose less because adults have a lot of body fluids.
“Children have less fluid, so if they’re worried, like at the start of a panic, they’ll collapse faster,” he said.
He said, if the fever has not subsided for more than three days, even if the child’s body temperature feels cold, take him to the hospital immediately, because this could be a phase. prose “In addition, when we find symptoms such as bleeding gums, runny nose or pain in the stomach, these could mean bleeding in the digestive tract,” he said.
